Supporto

Support

There is one person behind Tipty, not a call centre. Everyone gets an answer, in English or Italian, usually within a couple of days.

Write to support@tipty.app (or supporto@tipty.app — same inbox).

What to write so we can help quickly

A problem described well gets solved on the first exchange instead of the fourth. If you can, include:

The diagnostic log

Tipty keeps a record of what it does: when it started, which computers connected, which sends went out and which failed. It's there for when a description in words isn't enough to explain what went wrong.

One thing to know about your data

There is no Tipty account, and no copy of your data anywhere else. That is why nobody can read it — and also why nobody can get it back for you if you lose the phone or uninstall the app.

Contacts, groups and notes can be exported from the app: that's your backup, and you want it before you change phone, not after.

If one day you leave Tipty

You can take everything with you, and you don't have to wait until you've decided: it's always there. On the phone, ⋮ → Settings → “If one day you leave Tipty”. It shows you what it's about to do, lets you pick item by item, and tells you afterwards what actually happened. It deletes nothing: it copies. In practice it puts back the files you had moved to the Trash, copies the staging area into Documents/Tipty, and saves your Tip notes as plain text files that any app can open.

Your send history and your groups come out with the full backup instead, which is made from the computer.

Already uninstalled and looking for the files you had trashed? They are still on the phone, in the Tipty/.Cestino folder. It starts with a dot, so the phone keeps it hidden: open a file manager and turn on “show hidden files”. They stay there until you delete them yourself — Tipty is gone and nobody touches them.

Bugs and ideas

Feature requests are welcome at the same address. Almost all of Tipty grew that way: someone explains how they actually work, and the right thing to build comes out of it.
